My trip to the USA is at an end. I am home and very jet lagged. Our bags arrived home 4 days after us which meant plenty of time before I needed to tackle the laundry. We had done most of it before we left America so I knew it would not be too bad.
Being as tired as I am and wake all hours gave me some time to start going through all my photo’s and scrap a few of my happy day memories while they are still fresh. Here is just one of them for today.
The photo was taken in Galveston Texas at a shell store that is built out over the water on a dock. Pretty cool place and it had a vast selection of shopping to make anyone happy. Even Minnie Pearl would have been happy at the selection of hats complete with sales tags still hanging off.
I have used Happy Day Scrapbook Kit from Quirky Twerp for this one. Just perfect I would say for a memory of a very happy day. (Hot too – it was a stinker there with the unusually long hot and humid heat wave they had in the USA this year.)
It’s Mojo Monday time again. Yay! I really enjoy the sketches that Julee provides for the card challenge each week. Helps me out with trying to keep up with my card supply folder which I recently made to keep me on track this year. I’ll share that another day though.
So without further ado here is this weeks card for Mojo Monday #177
I love the combination of the colours in this digital kit – which is a sneak peak as it is not being released till Thursday. I’ll be sure to come back and give you the credits though.
I have layered lots of pp and stitched each layer. Then the flowers, stick pin from Maya Road and button were added for that extra little touch.
Here is a close up of the chandelier..where you can see I have added CTMH Liquid Glass and Glitz Stardust to give the thing some dimension and shine. I have also spritzed the flowers with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Old Lace.
Just the right amount of glamour for a special person having a special birthday – now let’s just hope she doesn’t read my blog for a while. 🙂
Pop on over to Mojo Monday for a whole lot more inspiration!
This week saw me getting more organised – part of my balancing act is to set systems into place to allow me time for the really important things. One project I have wanted to do for a while is a birthday and card folder. I share that with you later this week.
For now though I want to share a card I made for the Sweet Sunday Sketch 101 over at the Sweetest Thing.

Here is my complete Daily December/ Journal your Christmas album.
Well at least as complete as I can get it right now. Until I place an order with Bind It All that is. For now I have two whopping big O rings holding the thing together.
You can see here how thick it became.
There are a few little lumpy bumpy’s inside. The little tag envelope was made from one that a card came in this year. It seemed the “square” cards were in vogue here and I was very pleased to find the envelopes fit into the album perfectly. They are a nice sturdy paper too which is nice.
Everyone wrote out their Christmas wish list on the back of these fabulous Vintage Christmas Tags from Quirky Twerp.
I just altered the red envelope a little at the top. Added some cute “measuring” tape to the top and stuck it to the page for the day. Nice, easy and a fun Christmas tradition for everyone to get involved in.
Another lumpy bumpy page with all sorts of things attached like the tea bags and coffee bags from here. Of course we had to indulge in a few special little treats! It’s amazing how different Liptons Teabags are all over the word.
Hey – now there is an idea for a mini album. I might just start collecting them on my travels.
One last image – just for fun.
I kept the tag off the butterball turkey. Washed and wiped down with iso it should be fine. It was purchased in Bahrain and has the weight and price on it. Tucked into the back of the coffee bag where I created a pocket, it should be a fun reference to look at it the future.
Now I am off to do something I have not done in a long time. Quilting. I heard today that a group has started up locally and I want to go. I feel like making myself go out and getting the motivation of seeing others quilt might give me just what is needed to get started again.
It is one of the things on my bigger picture “to do” list for this year. It used to be my full time hobby and it is something I have missed not doing much or any over the last couple of years. I have a few unfinished ones on the go so they are my first priority. I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂
Love the sketch this week from the Mojo Monday Challenge. I need to start restocking my card box ready for this year so joining in with these challenges should help me with my mojo and get my box full.
Julee Tilman’s shabby style sample card this week is so super pretty and inspirational. Combined with the fabulously shabby “Sugar Blossom” brand new digital kit from Quirky Twerp (that I just couldn’t resist) and some doodles by Jan Hosford being released tomorrow at The Digi Chick I could not pass this Mojo Monday 172 challenge up.
I’m really into the whole medallion thing right now since making my wedding anniversary banner and also adding one to my Christmas journal. That circle in the sketch just called out for one. Jan’s doodle heart fits so nicely in front of it. Add in some distressing, lots of inking, some stitching and lace and you have a perfectly shabby, perfectly sweet, sweet sixteen card.
With at least 3 members of the family turning 16 this year this card is a great addition to my card box and will come in very handy!
Edited to add – Just put this on the linky at Mojo Monday and guess I should have gone and looked at all the entries since I saw the challenge on Monday – seems medallions and hearts are all the rage right now. 🙂 Still it’s a pretty card.
It’s been nice after all the festivities to slow down this week. The decorations are now away and all the leftover baking just about consumed.
This layout is with a couple of new releases at The Digi Chick for this week.
My youngest took this photo of me, a rare one :), on Christmas day. It’s unusual for me to show photo’s of myself and yet it is something I know I need to do more of. Especially for my children’ss sake down the track. We do have some past times when there is not even a photo documenting me as being there. That needs to change.
Along with a few other things. This year has been quite a big one for me in terms of understanding who I am, how I feel and where I fit. It is a slow process but one that is moving in a positive direction. This layout is a reminder to me of where I want to head – and the things I want to continue to work on.
The layout is a little out of my usual style but fun to create none the less. Something else I want to do more of – try new ideas and styles. It kind of suits the photo! The design is from December Simple Template Set by Kellie Mize and the kit is a fun one called Fresh Start by Jennifer Fox and Amy Stoffel.
I am not sure there will be any more posts from me this year so I wish you, and yours, a wonderful New Year. May you be blessed with fabulous health and all you could want 2011 to bring.
Happy New Year!
Been busy so not had the chance to update this last few days. Short and sweet tonight too. Here is today’s Daily December pages.
Will write about our day and evening after it is printed, including the surprise the children got when I pulled out a new bauble this year. As we were not having a “Christmas tree” they assumed we were not having a new bauble which is one of our Christmas eve traditions along with new PJ’s.
No pj’s this year but we still had the new bauble. 🙂 They were most impressed – and worked out where to hang them on the decorations we had put up.
I hope all your gifts are wrapped, your food prep done and you are relaxing with a chance to reflect on the truth of tomorrow. The real reason for the season. May you be blessed with a wonderful day surrounded with loved ones both family and friends.
